The WORST Sports Bras for Big Boobs

If you’ve been following along on Instagram, I’ve been testing and review sports bras. Some have been amazing (the Lululemon AirSupport Bra is a dream when you can get it on sale) and others have been, quite literally, bloody nightmares!

Since those bras don’t really need to occupy their own review space on badassladygang.com, I’m rounding them up below so you know who to avoid.

My Size for Reference

GANG, sports bras are not one size fits all. It’s important to spend some time figuring out your body shape and size. Before even going out to try on bras, nail down the following:

  • What is your band size?

  • What is your cup size?

  • What is your shoulder shape?

  • What size do you typically wear and what issues do you have?

When I measure myself, I’m a 38 DD. But I often wear 36 DD sports bras because when I wear my true size, I often feel like I’m swimming in 38 DD sports bras. Not only does every single brand fit differently but every single bra will fit differently. THERE IS NO METHOD TO THE MADNESS. The sizing is a nightmare. It’s insane. I just want everyone to take a second to note that sizing is not across the board. And just because you’re my size, your cup size and shoulder shape may not be the same as mine. These sports bra reviews are less about, “This works for me it’ll work for you too” and more about seeing what a sports bra looks like in motion and on someone with big boobs so that you have a frame of reference that isn’t a model who looks nothing like you standing still and modeling. YOU WANT TO SEE HOW IT BOUNCES. Right?

How I’ve Been Rating Sports Bras

I’ve been rating them on the following:

  • Support

  • Chafability

  • Price

  • Getting On/Off

  • Size inclusion

  • Overall

Victoria Secret's Incredible Max Sport Bra

I couldn’t even finish my run review, that’s how bad it was! The fasteners on this sports bra are placed in the front of the bra instead of the back so the second you start running, gravity pulls them down. This bra was the most uncomfortable and unsupportive bra I’ve ever tried. A TRUE PIECE OF GARBAGE.

I give this bra 10/10 poop emojis. 💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩

Spanx High Impact Bra

Look, I went into this one bias. When a Badass Lady Gang-er suggested I try the SPANX sports bra, I was pretty shocked to hear that Spanx even made a sports bra! I don’t like the brand. LOVE the CEO, but really struggle with what SPANX does to women. This sports bra wasn’t terrible. Not great, just disappointing. The adjustability in the straps is RIDICULOUS. It looks really, really dumb and is honestly super distracting. It feels flimsy and cheap. For the price, it’s highway robbery.

I give this bra 8/10 poop emojis. 💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩

Nike Impact Bra

@kellykkroberts New sports bra review for women with big boobs. Today, #nike impact which used to be one of my favs. #runtok #running #run #sportsbrareview ♬ original sound - Kellykkroberts

Look, this used to be one of my absolute favorite bras ever. I loved the adjustability and I love a sports bra that uses compression as a form of support. I jus like to feel like everything is locked and loaded! But, I’m a little bigger than I was when I used to train in this bra. I used to wear a size Large and this is the first time wearing a size XL. And for my bra size now, I hate it. If you have bigger boobs, skip this one. I couldn’t get the adjustability to fit in a way that was supportive without the clasps twisting and causing chafing. If you’re on the smaller end of big boobs, this bra might be a great option for you. But if you have big, full breasts, find a more supportive sports bra.

I give this bra 7/10 poop emojis. 💩💩💩💩💩💩💩

Nike Dri-Fit Alpha High Support Sports BrA

@kellykkroberts Justice for women with b o o b s who #run. This sports bra is a crime. Let’s review the #nike alpha “high support” #sportsbra. #AEJeansHaveFun ♬ Kingdom Dance - From "Tangled"/Score - Alan Menken

Look, I went into this review knowing full well that this bra wasn’t great. I spent 2 years partnered with Nike so I ran in this sports when I was in a much smaller body with smaller boobs. And even then I never wore this sports bra because it would rub me raw. So I broke my “no chafe cream” during testing rule and I LUBED UP. And surprising to no one, it rubbed me raw EVEN WITH the chafe cream. This sports bra is not great if you have boobs. RUN from it.

I give it 6/10 poop emojis. 💩💩💩💩💩💩

Panache Underwire Sports Bra

@kellykkroberts Panache #sportsbra review - THERE. WILL. BE. BLOOD. ☠️ this one did me dirty . #sportsbrasquad #runtok #running #run ♬ original sound - Kellykkroberts

GANG, I actually like the support of this bra. I just hate those back clasps and don’t like the support without it. There will be blood. There will. BUT, if you put KT tape under those clasps, you’ll be fine.

I give it 7/10 poop emojis. 💩💩💩💩💩💩💩

Glamorise Women’s Full Figure Elite Performance Wunderwire Sports Bra

@kellykkroberts Another day, another sports bra that made me bleed. Today I’m reviewing this #Amazon bra. Do not recommend. #sportsbra #runtok #sportsbrasquad ♬ original sound - Kellykkroberts

Last but not least, the total POS amazon sports bra. Everything about this bra is trash. It feels like trash. It chafes. It’s the epitome of you get what you pay for.

I give it 10/10 poop emojis. 💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩

Kelly Roberts

Head coach and creator of the Badass Lady Gang, Kelly Roberts’ pre-BALG fitness routine consisted mostly of struggling through the elliptical and trying to shrink her body. It wasn’t until hitting post-college life, poised with a theatre degree, student loans, and the onset of panic, that she found running. Running forced Kelly to ditch perfectionism and stomp out fear of failure. Viral selfies from the nyc half marathon struck a chord with women who could relate to the struggle, and soon the women’s running community Badass Lady Gang was born.

BALG is about enjoying life with a side of running. Kelly’s philosophy measures success by confidence gained, not pounds lost. If you aren’t having fun, it’s time to pivot. Kelly is an RRCA certified coach and has completed Dr. Stacy Sims ‘Women Are Not Small Men’ certification course helping coaches better serve their female athletes. Over the years Kelly has coached thousands of women from brand new runners to those chasing Boston marathon qualifying times, appeared on the cover of Women’s Running Magazine, joined Nike at the Women’s World Cup, and created a worldwide body image empowerment movement called the Sports Bra Squad. She lives in Brooklyn, New York.
