Healing Mind and Body: Meditation for Injured Runners

Injuries are an unfortunate reality for many runners, often leaving us feeling frustrated, discouraged, and disconnected from our passion for running. While physical rehabilitation is crucial for recovery, it's equally important to address the mental and emotional toll that injuries can take. In our collaboration with Coach Amanda, we present a guided meditation specifically tailored to help injured runners navigate their healing journey with grace and resilience.

All runners understand firsthand the challenges that come with injury. It's not just the physical pain that weighs us down; it's also the mental anguish and uncertainty about when we'll be able to return to our beloved sport. Coach Amanda is here to offer this meditation practice designed to support injured runners through their healing process.

In the meditation video, Coach Amanda gently guides listeners through a series of relaxation techniques, visualization exercises, and affirmations to help alleviate stress, manage pain, and cultivate a positive mindset. By tapping into the power of mindfulness, injured runners can cultivate resilience, patience, and acceptance as they navigate the ups and downs of recovery.

This meditation practice is not just about soothing the body; it's about nourishing the spirit and nurturing a sense of inner peace and wholeness. Whether you're sidelined with a minor injury or facing a more significant setback, this guided meditation offers a sanctuary for healing and self-compassion. Remember, healing is not just about getting back on the road; it's about honoring your body's journey and embracing the lessons it has to teach us along the way.

As someone who has experienced the transformative power of meditation in my own healing journey, I invite you to join Coach Amanda and me in this practice of self-care and self-discovery. Together, let's cultivate a mindset of resilience, gratitude, and hope as we navigate the road to recovery and return stronger than ever to the sport we love.

Kelly Roberts

Head coach and creator of the Badass Lady Gang, Kelly Roberts’ pre-BALG fitness routine consisted mostly of struggling through the elliptical and trying to shrink her body. It wasn’t until hitting post-college life, poised with a theatre degree, student loans, and the onset of panic, that she found running. Running forced Kelly to ditch perfectionism and stomp out fear of failure. Viral selfies from the nyc half marathon struck a chord with women who could relate to the struggle, and soon the women’s running community Badass Lady Gang was born.

BALG is about enjoying life with a side of running. Kelly’s philosophy measures success by confidence gained, not pounds lost. If you aren’t having fun, it’s time to pivot. Kelly is an RRCA certified coach and has completed Dr. Stacy Sims ‘Women Are Not Small Men’ certification course helping coaches better serve their female athletes. Over the years Kelly has coached thousands of women from brand new runners to those chasing Boston marathon qualifying times, appeared on the cover of Women’s Running Magazine, joined Nike at the Women’s World Cup, and created a worldwide body image empowerment movement called the Sports Bra Squad. She lives in Brooklyn, New York.
